Chris Christy - May 9, 2013, 08:09 AM

It was mentioned in another thread that will not be named that if Chris Christy wins, he will not be the first fat president ever because William Taft was President once.

Problem is that that was 100 years ago. Literally. 1909-1913. The US has become a lot more health conscious since then.

He did get the lap band surgery. I don't think he can win if he stays like he is.

An estimated 36% of Americans are obese. If you add overweight to that, well over 50% are overweight or obese. Chris Christy represents the oral majority in this country.

For me it's how he portrays himself in the media. He loves being large and in charge, the angry New Jersey fat man, the Republican who's not afraid to "slam" his own party, blah blah. Guy is for himself, just like all the rest. Oooo, the moderate Republican guy who praises the DNC incumbent. Been done before, nothing to see here, move along.

+1

Much more to dislike about him than his eating and lack of exercise habits. That being said, how to you expect someone to take care of the nation who can't even take care of their person or show some restraint.

Nothing special or even remotely intriguing about him. He is a self promoting douche just like the rest.

See above.

The election cycle is nonstop so that is why people are talking about it.

Being fat, at least that obese, is an issue in my opinion.

I trust him.
I know that I can get him to do the right thing in exchange for a box of cannolis and a gift certificate to The Ground Round.

Look no farther than the fact that Hillary Clinton stepped down as Secretary of State right after lying about what led up to the terrorist attack on US personnel in Benghazi. The 2016 presidential election campaign is already underway, my friend.

What difference, at this point, does it make?

I imagine--and this is only speculation--that she needs to do a few things to remain a top contender in 2016. First, she needs to duck and cover from this Benghazi hearings storm because she is caught red-handed lying about taking security personnel from the location prior to the attacks, despite requests for increased security. I speculate that she is nervously watching how much truth is uncovered by these hearings because too much truth will end her public career in this nation. Or at least if it doesn't, it ought to (we can't seem to rid ourselves of Clinton lies in this nation).

Secondly, I speculate that she thinks that if a lot of damaging truth does surface, it will hurt her less now that she is no longer incumbent. 2016 is far enough off in the future for this horribly forgetful voting populace so she may reason that it's enough time for her image to heal in time to run for president.

In short, get out now, before the shit storm. Ride out said shit storm, allow fair weather to fix the damage, re-emerge for presidential candidacy in 2016. We have the leadership we deserve.

Oh yeah, oops. I even heard that sound clip but missed the reference.

Hey, once a US Ambassador is dead, no point doing anything. We should just move forward with the real problem: guns in the USA.
