Colorado: The 1st US State to Legalize Weed For All Uses incl. Recreational - November 7, 2012, 12:05 AM

They already allowed medicinal use, but had a referendum on the ballot legalizing pot for recreational use as well and IT PASSED!

The Mexican narcos are probably shitting last night's enchiladas and burritos in their pants right now.

Meanwhile, Colorado is going to see a spike in tourism. It ain't called the Mile High City for nothing ...

Any of you guys been to Colorado lately?

For the past 4 years I've been trekking out to Breckenridge to ride my dirtbike along the continental divide for 8-9 days. (Can we say Mancation?) Anyway, one of the mountains we ride out to has the town of Alma at it's base. Maybe 300 or so people live in Alma. Yet there was 1 bar and 2 "medical" dispensaries. We stopped for lunch at the bar. I didn't realize what across the street until one of the guys in our group mentioned it. There was a guy right outside of the businesses. If he wasn't a hopped up street dealer then I don't know what he was. Hyper, looking up and down the street the whole time, meeting people on the street, at the door, etc.

I gotta say, Colorado had better tax this revenue stream. I personally don't have any dog in this fight. (Other than I hate smoke since I have asthma.)

I wonder, did stores in Colorado stock up on munchies knowing this was going to pass?

The availability in CO has definitely not been an issue for a while now..

Interested what this will do to prices.. how much of a tax they will levy on it, etc..

yah, and if the federal government lets it 'slide' RJR & ATC are already looking at going from big tobacco to big pot (kinda like pol pot but different I guess). If that happens stocks will go thru the roof benifiting me

So tax the crap out of it. Make it available but expensive. It isn't going away. So which is worse...spending huge money trying to stem the flow of illegal pot by cartels....or generating huge revenue from people with disposable income. (And then you can make it illegal to sell without a tax stamp of some kind....with large financial penalties for the seller. Not jail time, but financial implications.) Cost keeps it out of the hands of the underage for the most part. You get $ for revenue, less drug arrests for petty stuff, and stock in chip companies goes up. Win-win-win.

Good first step, but I really don't expect the federal government to allow this

The federal government has been taking a fat shit on states rights for years now

I am quite in favor of it being legalized - 5 or 10 blut pack for $20.00 of that 19.00 is tax; problem solved. I personally have no desire to hit the reefer - it was hard enough to quit smoking marlboro's.
