Computer Help - September 23, 2008, 11:04 PM

So my dell laptop got this funky vertical lines going through the screen, my warranty has ran out and Dell is of no help unless I pay $70 for a consultation that does not guarantee fixing my problem. Has anyone ever had this problem?? can someone help me? any help will be greatly appreciated and it wont go unrecognized. Thanks folks!

its the videocard, problem is, your dell's video card is probably integrated into the motherboard, so you'll have to replace the mobo. Same problem happened to a couple of dell's at work. The tech that came out to fix them replaced the mobo in the laptop in like 10 minutes. was pretty cool

Are the lines in the same spot every time, or do they appear some days, and other days not so much? Or get thicker? I had a moniter at work with some broken pixels and what you're describing sounds like the same type of thing.

The lines are there every day the blue and green are very thin extra thing the white one has gotten a bit bigger with time and today ironically I just noticed another one right on the edge of the screen. Its a laptop and it seems the lines are coming out around the area where the screen and keyboard connect.

it could be broken pixels, maybe the video card. in any case, click the link to this video, and put it in full screen mode. it's worth a shot. WARNING, if you're prone to seizures don't look at the screen!!
