Computer Issues *HELP* - October 26, 2006, 06:56 AM

Recently I upgraded my desk top to a full wireless setup. Figured it would be great to save a little space and not constantly be messing with the wires. The keyboard works GREATNow I'm running into a big issue with the mouse. No matter how I adjust it the damn thing is still jumpy on the screen and I have to click like 50 times to get it to respond.

Here is what I bought.

I'll post the menu options to give a better idea of what adjustment I have when I get home tonight!! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

God Speed Jeff! You'll never be forgotten.

BOOSTZX3 : in all seriousness head injuries ain't no joke. I've had around 10 concussions and now I ride a Buell Don't let it happen to you!

Is it an optical mouse? I ran into that issue. The surface it's use on need to have some texture to it. I was having issues using my laptop on a laptray because it was white, shiney, and smooth.

As for the clicking issue...operator idi.....er...error.

do what muddawg said for the mouse jumping around

get another set of batteries for the lack of response to button clicking. If that doesn't fix it then Kensington has started to making unreliable crap, you got a lemon, or there's something in the area causing RF interference (LCD monitor or CRT? circuit box near you? cell phones/cordless home phones?).

Along the lines with muddawg. It could be the surface you're on. Optical mice use optical lasers that reflect off the surface. It took me an hour and two sets of batteries to realize my mouse wouldn't work on my glass coffee table. Most mouse pads will work fine.

If that doesn't fix it, then flip it over and look for any obstruction in the optical laser hole. Sometimes I get little hairs in the way of the optical beams and it produces the same symptomns as you described. Just give it a good blow.

What Muddawg and Steve said. Try it on different surfaces. It may just be a bad product and you got it. I would also go with Logitech, in general they make a superior product

hey i had the same problem. turned out to be interference with some other crap in the office, like my boss' wireless setup. Someone once told me to put up a tin foil barrier between us, i doubt that would do anything but give him something to laugh about.
