computer question - full text search engines - April 10, 2012, 01:10 PM

looking for suggestions on full text search engines..

I have a few hundred publications, from pamphlets to full books that the customer wants to provide a full text search on as they are subject oriented. clicktime usage levels of this search will be very low. Looking for suggestions other than mysql full text seach... Something like the Google Search Appliance (which is way overkill) or SOLR.. We will be scanning in from 508 compliant PDF files. Running under linux is preferred but Win 2008 is also ok.

another possibility might be something that scans a document and automatically associates keywords with it.

Any (valid) suggestions are appreciated.. Thanks!
