Cop car look alikes...your thoughts? - December 5, 2006, 11:41 AM

A lot of people drive crown vic's, and there's nothing wrong with that. But some people take it too far to look like cops, like this guy for ex. He tore the back seat overhead upholstery in a way that, in the dark/shade, it looks like those unmarked cruiser lights. The pic I took of that didn't come out too good b/c of the glare. But you get my point.

My opinion: If you're trying to look like a cop so bad, why don't you just join the fucking academy! I'm not bashing cops...just bashing those trying to impersonate in an effort to look superior in traffic.

Hahahaha, yea, I see that alot durring my commute, alot of curiser wana bes.
Tinted windows, extra antennas.

The tip off in VA are the stickers on the license plate.

I hate when people do exactly the speed limit around those guys, its even worse if they have one of those crome spot lights on the drivers side.

This is why I try not to drive my "work" car any more than I have to. When I have to go to training and stuff, I take the Mustang.

Lt. Colonel Grossman - writes in his introduction to The Bulletproof Mind:

One Vietnam veteran, an old retired colonel, once said this to me: "Most of the people in our society are sheep. They are kind, gentle, productive creatures who can only hurt one another by accident."....

"Then there are the wolves," the old war veteran said, "and the wolves feed on the sheep without mercy." Do you believe there are wolves out there who will feed on the flock without mercy? You better believe it. There are evil men in this world and they are capable of evil deeds. The moment you forget that or pretend it is not so, you become a sheep. There is no safety in denial.

"Then there are sheepdogs," he went on, "and I'm a sheepdog. I live to protect the flock and confront the wolf."

I don't know where they got that from. Some
County cop cars have local government plates but the majority of unmarked have not
only regular Joe plates but a safety inspection decal. Hell, these days in NOVA there
driving siezed vehicles, duallys, jeep cherokees. Unfortunately you can't drive like a
prick at all anywhere. The used Crown vics with the spots are everywhere and you can
get them cheap. I'm with who ever it was said they fuck up traffic. I've seen more
people slow to 55 and not pass a 17 year old kid in long hair driving a retired cruiser.

The are ways that LEO's know it is not a true cruiser. Certain signs to look for. In some areas, you can tell by the type of tag or beg. letters of the tag as well.
I think if you choose to buy one of these, expect to get harassed by COPS more often than not. Look a likes are just that... Its when you have the blue lights flashing behind you, when you really know... and for all sake of arguements.
Emergency lights are not a dead give away. I have both hide-aways, and undercover strobes on my surburban, and you can not tell standing beside me, unless I turn them on.
All about placement....especially my visor lights.

As a former owner of a last gen 9C1 Caprice I didnt buy it for the "COP" look.
I made the buy cause they were faster than the then current Mustangs with 5 people in it. The added bonus of cops not harassing me was nice. As long as I wasnt doing something really stupid. This was six years ago so that car was still in heavy use. It had the spotlight and black wheels no anntenae.

Guzz can tell of how effctive it was. Its still hard to find a 150 mph. car that gets 28 miles a gallon.

As for the turds that g out of the way to look like Johnny law they have some issues.

+1

I hate having to drive the cruiser on the higway to the academy for that reason. People freak out and drive slower than a blue hair coming home from church on Sunday.
