The Counter at Reston Town Center - August 6, 2009, 12:30 AM

I went The Counter, the new burger joint at RTC today, (located across the street from Jacksons, across from Mon ami Gabi steak house) with a few buddies and I have to say it was amazing, both the food and service. It's a sit down style place. We had to wait probably 15 min to get a table but they hooked us up with a free appetizer and drinks as an appology for waiting so long. We got the Fifty-Fifty as an appetizer, which is a combo of either two; french fries, sweet potato french fries and onion straws along with a couple fried pickles. The sweet potato french fries are money!

The main menu consists of a fairly extensive build-your-own burger list which lets you choose the type of meat (beef, turkey, chicken or veggie), the size (1/3, 2/3 and full pound burgers), 10-15 types of cheeses, 20-30 different toppings including pineapple, fried eggs and chili (you get 4 toppings for free and then it's an additional $0.50-1.00 for additional toppings), probably 15 different sauces, and three different buns including an english muffin. The beef burgers are cooked to a perfect medium rare and they ridiculously good...and extremely itis inducing. The best burger I've had in this area IMO. The service was great too, didn't have to wait to long for our food plus we got hooked up. They have a bunch of other stuff on the menu too besides burgers.

I got a 1/3 pound beef burger with jalapeno jack cheese, roasted red peppers, grilled onions, lettuce, pineapple, fried onions and bbq sauce on a regular bun. The burger was like $9.75 (I think the 1/3 pounder is something like $8.75 normally plus $1.00 for the fried onion straws). I think the 2/3 pounder starts at $9.75 and the full pounder is $10.25. The appetizer would have been $5.25 I think.

Good food, good service! Highly recommended!

I will try this place out. I am a 5 guys fan but prefer there bacon, cheese hot dog over the burgers. It seems with all burger joints though, some days the burgers are just better than others days.

I am amazed no one has mentioned Hell Burger yet. That is the best burger place around, hands down.
