Couple Married 72 Years Dies Holding Hands - Des Moines News Story - KCCI Des Moines

Bittersweet ending for the Yeager's.

Cliff notes.....they left to go into town last week and didn't make it. Car accident left them both in ICU, admitted to the same room, holding hands. He passed at 3:38pm holding her hand and she passed exactly 1 hour later, still holding her husband's hand.

Edit - And I did do a search so I hope I don't get nailed by the repost police.

Awesome story Chris. Well you know what I mean. Not awesome that they died but awesome that they died with each other.

Good story. My great aunt and uncle died within days of eachother. He died first from cancer, then she died of heartbreak. Sad but kinda reassuring at the same time.

My maternal grandfather committed suicide, at home, in the bedroom, while my grandmother was sitting in the living room with a care giver.

She was very upset with him that he went out that way, as was the rest of the family. I would've much rather seen something like this happen to them then to have had her go through that.
