Credit Card Deals? - July 22, 2010, 10:16 AM

What's out there? What good deals do you got?

Here's the deal. I got a job now with a small company that doesn't offer a company card. I'm traveling a fair amount and I'm getting hammered with costs. They are not exactly timely in paying either. So I want a card that is dedicated just to business expenses, and that can insulate my personal cash flow and savings.

I got a simmons first card at 7% but they dont offer miles or points. You need a card that gives points.

Yeah I think you're right. They are about to hit me with an out of country conference trip which is going ding me for thousands.

Are you talking about rewards one one with low APR because you'll be carrying a balance every month?

AmEx Rewards are the best I've found personally.

Oh man, I don't really know about this stuff. I might want to be able to carry a balance based on their current lag. That wouldn't be more than a month, so maybe APR doesn't weigh as heavily as one with good returns.

Basically they've grabbed a hold of some of my funds, and are keeping it in limbo. Maybe I should just suck it up, but that amount continues to grow

Yeah man I was thinking AmEx might be good for this. I've used them before through another company.

I think I'm going to spend some time tonight applying for a few different cards. I don't want a ton of inquiries dinging my score though, so I want to be concise. That is the real reason I started this thread.

I had an AMEX Gold for a while but never really used the awards.

I now use a AMEX Blue Cash for everything since I get like 1.5-2% off every purchase and 5% off qualifying ones (some gas, etc).

Put everything on the Amex and pay it off at the end of the month... then get quite a bit back at the end of the year... pretty nice.

You have a hit 6500 before the 5% rewards are available with Blue Cash. I use an AMEX linked to my Fidelity account, it's straight up 2% return on all purchases so i don't have to worry about rotating categories or using the wrong card to get groceries vs. fast food vs. gas.

Amex is the shyt for business expenses!

For personal use I have BofA "USAirways" Visas for credit & debit.. but would love to change them out for Amex. Too much invested in BofA to do that right now though.

Thanks for the info. I just applied to a few cards based on the information I got here. Amex wanted to sell me the gold card, not the blue one. We'll see what happens.

Honest the next job I get I would love for it to be 100% travel. I would then get Amex Platinum.
