I heard about this on my scanner while at work this morning.
When rescue arrived on scene she was still under the front right tire, DOA.

Imagine what she might have done while driving a car.

Reston (AP) - Talking on a cell phone may have been a fatal mistake for a woman in Reston.

Fairfax County police say she was on the phone Wednesday morning while crossing Silentwood Lane, where a garbage truck was backing up.

Investigators say the woman walked into the truck's path, and she was hit and killed.

Speed and alcohol have both been ruled out, and the driver isn't being charged.

im suprised no one noticed until she reached the front tire. How loud are garbage trucks. If you were to scream at the top of your lungs from behind a truck, could the diriver hear you? Although the garbage company has been cleared of any criminal charges, the door is stil open for any libel suits.

I think that garbage truck company should use this as a wake up call. It could happend to anyone in any vehicle.

Could you imagine how the conversation went?:

"hello? hey honey, im crossing the street right now, hang on.."
"ok, so how was your day?"
"Oh good, i went shopping and I - oh shit hang on, a garbage truck is backing up towards me. I gotta move"
"Careful now darling, just get across the--"
"Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, the garbage truck has got me! OWWWWWWWWWW my foot is caust! Ohhhhhhhhh Shit its moving towards my torso. Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh I should have moved quicker! Honey quick, take the turckey out the oven and call-"
(Sound of crunching bones and burst spleens resonating through the phone)

I couldnt image how somthing like this could happen. I woulda probaly upchucked my lunch from the last 3 months I f I were on the over end of that phone
