I never even thought about this....only problem I can see is the printer being cheap...and printing shity stickers, or jamming up...or printout runs out of paper...

Emissions only.
The scanner is to get the barcode of the Vehicle Identification Number through the little window in the windshield of the car.

The OBD II port does actually read emissions levels from the car’s computer. This would only work for certain model years or newer. OBDII AND EMISSIONS TESTING

Virginia has ones they put on exit ramps, you just drive by on your way to work and you get sent a renewal.

Yeah I am old enough to know better. Thing is, I just don't care.

I like this idea.

“Any man who tries to be good all the time is bound to come to ruin among the great number who are not good. Hence a Prince who wants to keep his authority must learn how not to be good, and use that knowledge, or refrain from using it, as necessity requires”.

- Nicolo Machiavelli 1469-1527

Another reason I love diesel vehicles. No inspections at all in DC. It's also one of the many reasons I stay a DC resident. Along with cheaper insurance and less taxes.

Then again... That's just me.

Oddly enough. My taxes are lower in DC than they were in MD. In MD I had to pay state tax AND county tax. Which made it higher than DC.

Also..no property tax on vehicles. I own 6 cars and 2 bikes. That adds up fast.

Crime...meh. It's not like it used to be. Plenty of places in MD and VA that are worse.
