+1 for highland park 12 & 18, though I mix with powers.

Jack Single Barrel is mellow though.
I like Jim Beam Yellow Label as well. Good spicy, peppery kick.

Woodford Reserve is a fav as well, but prices have gotten a little outrageous.
Leopold Bros. when I can find it.

Do not like Makers. Yuck. Knob Hill is iffy to me.

Bowman's Rye Whiskey. Yes, Bowman's. Not the regular shit. Not easy to find a decent bottle of Rye anymore. It's a fucking kick in the teeth, but damn delicious... and distilled locally:

Irish Whiskey.. because fuck you, that's why.

Lots of good Scotchs out there...

And for fuck's sake Heist- Jack is not Bourbon.

It's technically both, but fits under the subcategory of Bourbon because of the corn percentage in its mash.

Some would say it's not a bourbon because of the charcoal filtering, but that doesn't play a factor in whether it meets the standard.

Which makes me think, has anyone tried making their own at home? I know Magic Rat used to make vats of home juice for personal consumption. A few of the upper end liquor stores sell little 2-3 gallon barrels so you can age your own homebrew.

Which makes me now think of something else... Has anyone tried a scotch aged in something other than Oak? I've seen sherrywood cask or reused casks. But I am talking woods like coco or something crazy like palm or sequoia.

apple pie moonshine is the shit. you know why? If I only smell, regular moonshine or everclear I get immediate acid reflux...but nothing if I sip on good apple pie moonshine.

now to scotch, I like my johnny walked with canada dry ginger ale.
any of the "Glens" for singles, with a squirt of water.

bowmore legend: mighty damn good for $30 bux a bottle, and my new staple whiskey.

basil hayden: not scotch, but pretty good all the same.

heist: cant seem to locate any yamazaki of the older vintage. wanted to try it.
