Yep.
Finally in a truck again...

This thing won the International Pickup of the Year by a huge margin..

Funny how you see the quotes from the industry researchers saying diesels don't sell well in the States.. yeah, no shit they don't- because they're not available. Funny how I don't see diesels clogging up the dealer lots of VW/ Audi. Only using gross sales numbers in your calculations is all kinds of retarded.

A 30mpg pickup with a large payload?? Fuuuuckk, my shitass Frontier gets 16.

Commuting with the Frontier is killing me... and I don't think I use the bed enough to justify it anymore. Tailgate latch recently broke on me, fuck that truck. Build quality is shit. About to be selling it soon, looking at a 2007-8 Subie Outback and a trailer for the bikes.

Competes w/ F150. Won't see it here in the states.

IMHO, they should make a small PU truck that gets decent gas mileage and has 6 ft bed. Truck w/ the OA size of about my current 2001 Ranger. The bed of that new Ranger is half the size it should be.

OK, I see now.... Looking at the supercab version, I see they do offer a 6 ft bed....

Still smaller than the F150, with less towing/ payload. This truck competes directly with the Tacoma/ Frontier, and kicks their asses.

Yes, it would probably steal some F150 sales, but those who NEED the F series will still get the F series.

This thing gets great gas mileage, and is available with a 7.5 ft bed on the regular cab model.

I think it's probably the same reason dodge did away with the dakota. The price would be so close to the full size truck that their projected sales in the US don't make it worth it.

There are some of us (you, me) who would buy this in favor of an F150. Lots of folks would just get the F150

I'm with you. I would never buy an F150. Just too big for my needs.

My 2001 Ranger, this morning, is at 199,510 miles. I'm keeping my eye out for another one. XLT, 4-door, 2WD 3.0 or 4.0L engine. They dropped the Ranger from the lineup for 2013. So I'll either buy another used Ranger or pick one up from Toyota or Nissan.

Either way, Ford Mo Co won't get a dime out of me on my next truck purchase. Now if that Supercab ver of the New Ranger was available to me w/ that 6 ft bed in a 2WD, 4-door cab - Super-Cab version, I might buy one.

They are loosing sales w/ that void in the small truck offering hole...

Correct. That is the sole reason Ford US product planners did not allow it to be sold Domestically.

Here's something I am wondering, would individual buyers be able to go to Mexico, purchase, and bring them back into the US (provided it can meet US emissions)?

I know people who bought their cars in Canada generally have no problems re-registering when they move to America. Not quite sure about the Mex > US relationship though.

I'd trade in my F150 for one of these in a heartbeat...

I love having a truck, but I hate the size of the 150. Trying to move this thing in and around DC is a royal PIA.

It's too bad that the big three have abandoned the small truck market. I don't need a tank, but my alternatives are what? A Tacoma that is almost as expensive and nowhere near as nice, or a Frontier (been there, no thanks).

Chevy Colorado. Guy at work has one and likes it. Maybe 2 yrs old or so. Don't know much about them.

HOLY FAWK!!!! And at 35 mpg?!?!?
edit- that is 275 lb-ft and 345 lb-ft of torque for this side of the pond

Their MPG figures are different as well. Imperial gallons and whatnot. 35 translates into 30ish. Still damn good, and WAY better than Tacoma or Frontier offerings.

I rented a GMC Canyon which is the same as a Colorado. It was capable of parking in smaller spots and driving through manassas was easy. It had plenty of pickup and got around 20mpg with 4wd, extended cab and auto. They are decent but have crappy 90's interiors which feel totally dated.
