Dear Speed TV (rant) - July 27, 2009, 09:30 AM

Dear Speed TV (or whoever controls broadcasting),

Can I ask you a favor? Will you please just have good coverage for 2 hours every 2 weeks or so, so that I may watch my MotoGP races in relative peace? Please, STOP showing fcuking commercials every 2 laps. I swear to God, there is 45% of race time taken by commercials of that ugly ass progressive bitch who rides a "900 v-twin". to that bitch, "YOU'RE excused", gtfo. I cannot count the number of times that someone is sizing up a great pass, and I hear that damn music that means we're about to go to commercial, so you can miss the greatest pass in history. Also, would you please show at least the top 10 finishers CROSS THE LINE! The race is not only for the top 3 finishers damnit! You go to commercial and miss amazing ballz out passes for last lap efforts every single weekend. Why can't you at least show picture in picture for commercial breaks like they show NASCAR? At least all the Billy Bob #8398 Jimmy Dean Sausage car fans can watch Billy do his laps while the natty light commercials run, why the fcuk can't we have that? rant over.

NASCAR

MotoGP

Sincerely,
one of the 25 americans that actually watches motogp

I was in O'Hare airport last night having a bite to eat in the C concourse and some guy wearing a button up, stitched, Speed TV shirt just finished up his meal. I thought about stopping him and telling him how much their coverage of bikes sucks.....

But I was too into my warm turkey sammich that just came out of the oven and let him walk by without saying a word.

Or how about bringing back Two Wheeled Tuesday and cancel fucking Superbikes? Yep, that would be great too.

Dear Viewer,

Thanks for your interest. Unfortunately, motorcycle roadracing falls very low on the totem pole of importance based on viewership. Currently, the 834th playing of the 36th episode of the 16th incarnation of PINKS! receives 86% more viewers than did one of the strangest and most exciting MotoGP races in recent history.

While we are sure that the 16 people in the US that know who Ben Spies is were ready to murder Fabrizio on Sunday, approximately 8000 times as many people were wondering how Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s carbeurator was tuned for this weekend's race. Half that number were also interested in seeing what Tony Stewart's crew chief ate for breakfast on race day.

Also, please realize that we do not handle the primary production of WSBK or MotoGP broadcasts. We do not tell Jonathan Greene to start his out-line everytime the music plays. Though occasionally, we do have to keep the people that pay the bills happy. We had to beg Yamaha for their support of this weekend's MotoGP broadcast. Their requirement was that we play the Rossi on R1 commercial eleventy-thousand times. Who are we to argue with one of the only companies interesting in paying for ad time during a motorcycle race, with the exception of Cash-Direct, of course?

Lastly, while we love Greg White as much as anyone, the vast majority of the sportbike community prefers the hoodrat antics of Jason Britten and his rugged gangsta stunna crew. In the US, our studies have show, and viewing confirms, that most sportbike riders or enthusiast are most interested in doing wheelies down the interstate, blocking off public roads, and gathering in parking lots while revving their engines, than they are dragging body parts around a racetrack located in the middle of nowhere.

While we of course respect your opinion, and as enthusiast ourselves would love to meet your demands, the fact remains that we are a business selling a product. At this point, we suggest setting your DVR to record anything titled "Motorcycle Racing" or "FIM," being glad for the coverage that you do receive, and shutting the fuck up.

Regards,

Speed Management

Right up the 1 hole.
