Detroit enter at your own risk - October 8, 2012, 01:13 PM

Detroit Police To Visitors:

The Detroit Police Officers Association held an “Enter At Your Own Risk” rally Saturday in front of Comerica Park, home of the Detroit Tigers, where they distributed flyers warning visitors to the Motor City of what they say is a troubling paradox: Detroit is America’s most violent city and its dwindling police force is overworked and underpaid.

yeap, not going to Detroit.

If this is the case, all concealed weapons laws should be suspended in that area.

Citizens should have the right to protect themselves.

Ccw is easy in Michigan

I carry in Detroit frequently because they honor my va permit. I Go there every two months or so. There are a few bad parts but it's not as bad or widespread as the media makes it out to be

Detroit is a rotting husk with a few good kernels hanging on.

“Any man who tries to be good all the time is bound to come to ruin among the great number who are not good. Hence a Prince who wants to keep his authority must learn how not to be good, and use that knowledge, or refrain from using it, as necessity requires”.

Negative.

Detroit is a city with many good qualities and places....

However, the bad places GREATLY diminish the reputation of the good.

Kinda like black people

Damn... People are overreacting IMO.

I am from the suburbs of Detroit. Spent almost half of my life there and I still frequently go back to Detroit to catch Tigers game and all.

Honestly it is not that bad in the area where Comerica Park and all the bars reside at. Other than that it is hit or miss. But who would want to wander around Detroit other than seeing the ball park?

Since when is Detroit the most violent city in the US? I thought Camden and/or Flint had that on lock...

Detroit, according to FBI statistics, is actually the second-most violent city in the U.S. with 21.4 violent crimes per 1,000 people in 2011. It’s nearby Flint, Mich., that holds the dubious title with 23.4 violent crimes per 1,000 people.

Cops are being drama queens, and "most violent" is better for press than second

There are around 1000 fewer police officers in the city. There's shitloads fewer residents. And 12 hour shifts are the norm for a lot of departments

Bottom line: do your job or quit
