Thinking about giving a digital camera for XMas for my lovely camera happy wife. Was looking at the Fujifilm s5000. Anyone ever use this one or have knowledge on mid-priced $3-600 digcams?

Her needs: Nature shots, children photos, & landscapes. She uses the heck out of her EOS Rebel SLR and has been wanting a digcam.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

That's the one I have. Bought it a year ago mainly because my first youngun was on her way into the world and we needed a digital camera. No complaints, easy to use, takes great pics and mpegs.
Bought it for $400 last year, am sure prices have came down.

Take a look at a Canon digital body and reuse the SLR lenses.

I've got a Canon EOS ElanII (analog SLR) with two nice zoom lenses, so I'm looking at a digital body to reuse the lenses. I'd hate to throw away the investment.

There's only one choice:

Digital Rebel.

She'll be happy with it.

I've been looking at the bigger s7000. Only becuase it has the best movie mode on the market. 640x480 30fps length only limited by the size of your memory.

The 5000 does NOT take good pictures when you compare it to others in its class. but it has the best movie mode.

Get the names of some models with the features you need then check this link to see if there any good. They do a very in depth review of lots of cameras.

its a long list. holding ctrl and F will let you search the page for the name.... works on any site.

Do you buy a condom to look at it? No you buy it to fuck.
