Dog Owners - May 15, 2007, 07:20 AM

I need a favor from all dog owners. You may have or have had a dog and know the feeling when your dog passes away. Well, I haven't been on the street for awhile and I'm working out in the field today. There is a woman named Pat who owns "Bailey the Bulldog". Bailey and his mom used to be seen all over the Town Of Herndon walking and smiling wishing everyone a good day. I have a soft spot for all Bulldogs and Bailey was there for me when I lost my first American Bulldog. Well, today I saw Pat walking without Bailey. Pat saw me and started to cry. I turned around and said please don't tell me but she did. Bailey had major issues and passed on. Pat could use some encouragement right now. She told me she comes home to an empty home and she hurts really bad. Out of respect for her I'll say no more but any kind words would help. Pat doesn't ride a bike at all but I know some of you know how it feels to lose a friend that people call pet. Anyway, thanks for listening and let Pat know she is not alone. Thanks again.

RIP. I still miss Roxy. Tell her to go to the shelter or to one of those rescue groups and adopt a new dog.

Losing a pet is the hardest thing you go through because they are family. Please pass on to your neighbor our condolences and tell her it will get better with time. I also agree with adopting a rescue or shelter dog, there are so many that are PTS every day and the numbers are only growing.

Pat take a look at the Rainbow Bridge site as it has helped out many in their time of need. http://www.petloss.com/
You'll know when you are ready to bring a new bundle of joy into your life.

Thanks to Bailey for all the good memories he brought you. Celebrate his life and bless the next pup that is fortunate to share your life ( a rescue or pound dog perhaps?). Stay strong

That is so heartbreaking! Dogs are family. Even better than family, sometimes... They don't argue, criticize, or judge you. You'll have to peel me off the walls when my pooches pass.
Everyone who has loved a dog knows her heartache. Send her our love.

The Legend of the Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to the Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food and water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who have been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except one thing- they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one stops and suddenly looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent, his eager body begins to quiver. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face. Your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then together, you and your special pet cross THE RAINBOW BRIDGE.

Stacey
