Driving across county - February 21, 2010, 10:59 PM

So I've got orders to transfer to Alameda, CA and ill be taking a road trip across country, trying to get some input on places to stop, ride, and all that jazz. I picked up an enclosed trailer so ill be hauling the R6. I have around a week to 2 weeks of travel. so plenty of time. Lets get some input.

Once you hit Denver the good local stuff

Golden, lookout mountain to ride (my favorite spot near my house)- After you do it do a free tour of the coors brewery and milk those free drinks.

The Boulder foot hill's

Denver/ Golden to Blackhawk to get a cheap but great meal at one of the casinos you can take any side road when you start getting past golden and have a blast.

Colorado is loaded with great spots to ride

Glenwood Springs canyon

Ride up to winter park, holy crap you will have a blast on a bike tons of switchbacks, ridiculous elevation changes, and sweepers not to mention the best place to get pizza ever hands down

Not to mention if its warm enough rent a DH bike for some world class riding at trestle

In East to West order:

Great Smokies in Tennessee and North Carolina (gotta go a little south too)
Ozarks in Southern Missouri/Northern Arkansas
Badlands in South Dakota, if you have time to swing up north.
Anywhere in the mountains of Colorado
Arches, Bryce, etc. in Utah
Salt flats in Nevada,
Yosemite in Cali

There's your two-week trip, homie.

I look forward to seeing how it goes for you. Hopefully I'll be able to steal a bunch of your ideas for our trip later in the summer. The dragon is on our list for april/may sometime, then we roll out of DC in late june/early july.
