Earthquake this morning? - July 16, 2010, 04:38 AM

Around 5 am this morning I'm up getting ready for work, and the house begins to shake pretty good for 2 seconds, and the dies down to a quiet rumble for another 2 seconds. The wife felt it as well, so I'm not crazy. Anyone else felt it?

+1. They say the epicenter was 1 mile from gaithersburg. Not sure I would have felt it in Warrenton anyways.

JESUS! There was a slow rumble that crescendoed in a loud "BOOM" that shook the house. I thought something tipped over on the highway or maybe a CAP jet hit super sonic speeds. A freakin' earthquake!

I was just getting up to jump in the shower and get ready for work. I kept looking out the windows expecting to see something falling over or a car/truck inside a house.

Ha! looks like the epicenter was just under my *house*...lol.

The looks my bf and I gave each other were something out of a comedy...
two heads pop up simultaneously, (2 second pause)
two blank expressions look at each other (2 second pause)
two heads return to position 1 (2 second pause)
..."wtf?" "I dunno. water pipes?" "weird"
..back to the pillow.

Did anyone feel the aftershocks?

yeah, I felt it.. it woke me up for all of 2 seconds, then I went back to sleep.. a 3.2 feels like a large truck driving by.. in other words.. negligible.. but then again, my long time residence in California, and having been in a really big quake (October 17, 1989, 5:04PM, the Loma Prieta 6.9 quake that interrupted the Giants/A's world series), I may be JUST a little blase about such small tremblors
