Eastern shore living - January 11, 2013, 01:20 AM

How I hate living out here on the eastern shore

So some of you know I lived in a town called rock hall for a year and While living out here and grew up in pg (bladensburg by peace cross) I learned a few things like

1. Outsiders are not welcomed

2. Raceism is still very real/ strong here

While driving down 301 just before the 50 split I see this car towed by a older escalade.. Said the n word on the hood the front windscreen busted to hell and down the sides of the car more spray paint and other words...

I see this shit and I think really?? You know I get asked all the time how is it out that way and why did you move ? I was rent a nice house 4 bed rm 2 1/2 bath on 1 Acker for a grand a month. Only thing around me was farms and a few neighbors and I moved out here for a slower pace of life and thought it would be a good place to raise kids but seeing everything from the locals how they treat people not from their........ Like for example I was living their about 6 months in I went to the towns local gas station and got the talking and one of them was like so were you from? I said dc area..... O so ur one of them N*** lovers. I got pissed and kick that trailer trash dude ass and got banned from the gas station.... Sad thing is that guy has kids that goes to the local schools and I think really ?? Teach your kids hate ? Smh.... Anyway when you all comes out this way stay outta the back towns you don't know... Now I'm not saying all eastern shore is bad but to most of the non tourists places they are like this.

As for me jan first I moved to kent island stevensville area and looking to get back over the bridge ASAP...

And you wonder why.

Act like a mature adult and get treated like a mature adult.

The part of your post that has me worried the most would be the mentioning of kids. 'SMH'

I've lived in this region nearly 15 years now (time flies).
Have never been to Eastern Shores. Not once. No desire to. Have heard the stories. Everything from the exploitation of the colored workers and farmers by
Perdue and the Crab processing plants, to the issues with UMD Eastern Shore students, to Eastern Shores general aire of dislike for Annapolis and outsiders from the rest of mainland Maryland whom are only tolerated because of the tourist revenue.

I am sure these are sweeping generalizations, nonetheless, if the same type of stories are coming back and being reported first hand not hearsay, it makes me even less interested in that region.

“Any man who tries to be good all the time is bound to come to ruin among the great number who are not good. Hence a Prince who wants to keep his authority must learn how not to be good, and use that knowledge, or refrain from using it, as necessity requires”.

From my understanding they call us " chicken neckers " or " hes from the western shore " which always makes me do a double take. I felt really bad for them. It was an older couple driving the SUV

I've been in plenty of situations where someone is being an irrational retard, stomping their face in isn't an action that comes to mind. But what do I know, I live in a world where normal people live normal lives.

You misunderstood my post, I was SMH at you for acting like a child and talking about wanting kids.

While that may be valid, violence isn't helping anything or anyone. It's a lack of discipline and emotional control.

Try going to a predominantly black college and being one of three whtie students living on campus. Been there done that. I didn't end up staying due to misrepresentation of their computer program. (They said they had a bachelor's in computer science, they only had a minor)

But, that being said. It was an eye opening experience. I was definitely socially ostracized. I didn't have any overt problems or bad experiences. But it really was an experience that made me stop and think.

Oh yeah, racism is generally due to a lack of experience/education. Best way to overcome it is to go the Ghandi route. Show them that you are a person first and a not just a color.

I grew up in California around hispanics and blacks, you put aside the ignorance and act like a normal human being; the idiots who thought violence and racism would solve the problem ended up dead or in jail.

That's because you're about 4 ft tall.
