This is the second one I have gotten in the last month. It's a VERY official looking email the reads:

Dear valued eBay member,
It has come to our attention that your eBay billing information records are out of date . This requiers you to update your billing information with no delay in order to avoid any future problems with eBay's online service.

Please click here to update your billing records.

Once you have updated your account records, your eBay session will not be interrupted and will continue as normal. However failure to update may result in cancellation of service, Terms of Service (TOS) violations or future billing problems.

Thank you for your time!
Marry Kimmel,
eBay Billing Department team.

Now aside from the word required being misspelled (a tip off) there is a link included (I underlined where the link was)

The link opened 2 windows. One of which was ebay's homepage and the other was a window minus and address bar to fill in all of my acount info.

I look at the link and saw it flipped the URL name. The actual URL the link went to was not EBay.

I looked up the info for that link through Arin and found this:

Name: APNIC Whois Contact
Handle: AWC12-ARIN
Company: Asia Pacific Network Information Centre
Address: Level 1 - 33 Park Road
Address: Milton 4064
City: Brisbane
Country: AU
RegDate: 2003-03-17
Updated: 2003-03-17
Phone: +61 7 3858 3100 (Office)
Email: search-apnic-not-arin@apnic.net

# ARIN WHOIS database, last updated 2003-11-22 19:15
# Enter ? for additional hints on searching ARIN's WHOIS database.

Watch your asses.

Yeah, I got this a few months ago, When you submit your info, they now have your username and password , they then sell/hijack your account.

I forwarded the email I got to Ebay but there really is not much they can do. They just emailed me back and said, don't put your personal information in there...

I was like... duh...but what about the 50 million other ebayers who might think its real, or don't bother to check?

The only way to tell it was fake was to right click on the link and hit properties, (in my software) then you can see that the URL wasn't to ebay.

The thing looks so authentic though.

Thanks for the heads up.

Ride your ride and be safe this season.

Yeah, I actually had to veiw the properties of the link to see the URL. I also tracerouted the IP the email came in on and it routes back to people net in Zurich.

That's not the only Ebay scam out there right now.

Don't even think of entering you username and password unless you want a scammer to have it and then possibly have access to a PayPal account and maybe even credit card info.

This was brought up on the VFR List. One guy looked up the VIN and it actually belongs to an '03 model.

Another guy got a bogus email today too and he traced it.
He posted:
