No. It's a package. No discounts.
I look at this and then wonder why T-Rex charges $40-50,000 for their version of a 3-wheeled car bike.

I wonder what the safety rating will actually be.....it gets motorcycle classification but it has body work and airbags. If this goes into full production and actually becomes some kind of success it might require redefining the vehicle segment a bit.

Also, what kinda insurance rates is this thing going to run you. I mean it obviously is lacking bumpers and I can only imagine what the crumple zones are going to be on something like this.

Ehh... it might have bumpers. I mean... as much as a 1908 Ford Model T.

I think what's interesting is that it has a seat belt. So is it a car? Or a trike with a roof? If it's a car, should it have a rear window (albeit small)?

Qualifies as a motorcycle. It doesn't need crumple zones and bumpers, however, the engineer said the vehicle will voluntarily meet all NHTSA impact regulations for a passenger car.

Classifies as a Motorcycle.
Trike with a roof.

Generally, anything with 3 wheels classifies as a scooter or motorcycle, although this does not mean that all vehicles with 4 wheels will classify as a car.

The Piaggo MP3 had a similar problem when it released a few years ago.

Maryland and DC had no qualification for it. It wasn't a Motorcycle but it didn't fit under their legal definitions of a Scooter, so it could not be sold or registered in either jurisdiction until they re-wrote their laws to classify it as a scooter.

(Sidenote: I cannot speak for Virginia and Maryland, but I am seeing a lot of these around DC lately. )

CEO is touting 95% american content.

I am eagerly awaiting developments, and I really like and support the idea.

I doubt it would ever be mainstream, but it is cheap enough that many people would be able to afford it as a secondary car in addition to their primary.

I think that may be appealing to many. They can keep their truck, van, SUV for family trips and use the little one around town and for solo trips.
