Unhappy EZ PASS My Ass.... - December 16, 2009, 07:12 PM

Im bitching because I live in DC and I want to get an EZ pass for race weekends, track days and out of town runs I make. Its not that many at all (needing tolls), but while riding the motorbike its a pain in the ass to stop and pay.

Im bitching because MD just added a $1.50 account Fee per month. Thats normaly the cost of one of my tolls and it starts to make it not worth getting it since I dont use it that much. They automaticly put DC users at MD.

Im heated...
I might say fuggit and not get one
damn them for this shit...

The tolls are BS to begin with, but they want to charge a maintenance fee?!? I gotta look at my statement!

Damn, I didn't know EZ Pass had all those fees.
Fuck that - I'm not paying EXTRA for the convenience of making it easier to GIVE SOMEONE ELSE my money?! What kind of logic is that?

And my net gain is what? I don't wait in line for a minute? Whoopde doo.

On another note, I'm always pissed that I can drive from here to Miami and not pay a cent in tolls.

But when I want to drive home to NYC, I have to peel off $25 each way just in tolls and I'm on the FEDERAL interstate (i.e. my Federal tax dollars support the I-95 network).

I got a VA EZ Pass a couple months ago. I just looked at my account. I don't notice any fees. I also notice they didn't charge me for a bunch of tolls I went through without my transponder. Nice.

A friend told me about the Peace Bridge Authority. You can access the site at:
https://www.pbaezpass.com/

Supposedly no fees.
Fill out the application and they will send you the EZPass in the mail. Then, you can cancel your Maryland one. You might want to call them about the fees just to make sure.

I can't tell you from my own experience, since I don't have an EZ Pass.
I don't want to feed the beast.

Looks like it starts off with a $25 fee and charges back automatically once your account falls to $10. And a $10 deposit is needed.

Just google it.....

And fuuuuuuck dropping money all over the place while digging for money with big ass gloves. Everytime, I find a new way to carry cash (be it in/on my gloves, or taped to the tank, or tucked into the front of the seat, I swear I will get E-Z Pass and then forget.

Yeah... 1.50$ a month is definitely worth it to not wait behind stupid people checking their seat cushions for a stack of nickles.

Only way I got screwed is that I had my EZ Pass attached to my bike for one day just to find it fell off somewhere I had to pay to get another one. As Clemson mentioned though, I would much rather just ride through that shit then have to stop and take my glove off or find clever ways to stash money to pay it.
