Farewell to the family (parents) dog RIP - November 12, 2007, 12:33 PM

2:45 pm today Lisa and I will go with my parents to put the family dog to sleep. His cancer has increased to where he cant breath anymore and passes out.

Not Lisa' and I's puppy, but the dog my folks have had for about 14 years. Very sweet Black Lab.

His name is Highway b/c the adoption agency found him running around on the interstate in atlanta, so my folks thought that was a fitting name.

He has been the pal of the family. Always loving, caring and the type of dog everyone thinks about as Man's best friend.

I feel awful for my dad who is taking this the hardest.

I cant even imagine what it will be like to have to do this when our dog gets old.

Highway is and always will be a member of our family.

It will be sad, but whatever you believe in, I hope its the latter and he will be off chasing balls and playing with other passed family members.

R.I.P at 2:45 pm our buddy Highway.

I am sad, so had to say it somwhere, thanks for reading.

Hope your family finds some comfort in doing what's best for Highway at this point. I'm sure he was a very well loved dog if you took the time to write this up. My best to your family.

Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
