These obstacles don't make the assault on junk food futile. But they do clarify how it will unfold. It will rely on three arguments: First, we should protect kids. Second, fat people are burdening the rest of us. Third, junk food isn't really food.

[sarcasm]
I hate those fat people. With all their food mongering, taking up 2 seats on planes, labored breathing, extra sweating, powered scooter driving and blaming it on everyone else but themselves.
[/sarcasm]

Where's the video of the ginormous chic eating a whole turkey for Thanksgiving? Or the one that does 3 jumping jacks and gets out of breath? They are so worth posting here.

Speaking of regulating...

I went to WalMart last night to get some Aleve Cold and Sinus...1 box, dont even need all 12 caplets. The boxes for cold med's were not on the shelfs, you had to take a card from the spot to the pharmacy counter to get the box. They took my ID and entered all my info THEN I had to sign a electronic wavier on the credit card touch pad.

Now I understand why the powers that be want to regulate but GOOD LORD I only got one box...not like I walked up with 30, reaking of gas fumes, with a guant face and sunken in eyes.

anyone remember seeing ads before movies of people going through food lines and being rejected and told to go eat a salad because they were too fat? It was sponsored by a lobbying group (heavily financed by the fast food industry) to demonstrate that the government was about go Big Brother on everyone's ass because we eat fast food.

It's unfortunate no one really paid attention to them. Hell, I just laughed. Unfortunate reality is that the number of people who think they can run my life better than me outnumber little ole me.

*edit* as a side thought: please note that once again the "Think of the Children" campaign is being used in this nonsense.

You know what? Fuck your children. How about you grow up, be an adult, buy healthy food for your children, force them to be physically active, and encourage them to be healthy. Do that instead of being a shit parent and whenever your kid starts crying for fast food (or maybe your slackass just doesn't feel like cooking) running out immediately and buying a family pack of large/king/super/douche sized #4 combos and then trying to blame them for even making them.

also note that the "Fuck your children" campaigns are rarely successful.

*edit 2* also realize the supplied link is a forecast of what one writer thinks will happen in the future and that food regulation hasn't really started yet.

As that would require personal responsibility, something most of society shirks in this day and age.

Next time you go to a fast food place, try this on for size.

Ridiculous. I wonder how long it will be before someone is regulating when I pee. People need to be responsible for themselves. If i want to eat 100 Bacon Cheeseburgers, i should be able to. Maybe i don't care if i live to 100 or 50. Gag me.
