Feel good story of the day. - October 1, 2013, 11:47 AM

I will start with all the crap that is going on, I think it's good to see something positive like this!

WWII veterans storm closed WWII memorial

Michael E. Ruane reports from the National Mall:
At the barricaded World War II Memorial shortly after 11 a.m., a group of World War II veterans from Mississippi led by members of Congress entered the memorial despite the shutdown.
The veterans were part of a part of an honor flight program. They had chartered an $80,000 airplane, and their plans were too far advanced to postpone, said Wayne Lennep, spokesman for the Mississippi Gulf Coast honor flights.
The group had arrived at 10 a.m. at Reagan National Airport on a chartered flight from Gulfport, Miss. The U.S. Park Police allowed the bus to stop.
Im not going to enforce the no stopping or standing sign for a group of 90 World War II veterans, said the officer, who declined to give his name. Im a veteran myself.
Veterans piled off for buses in wheelchairs and with canes a shout went up when the barricades blocking the entrance to the memorial were suddenly moved and the men surged down into the memorial.

Yeah I am old enough to know better. Thing is, I just don't care.

They probably didn't want to get their ass whipped by the Congressman who did it. It was Rep Steven Palazzo. Dude has a handshake that will break your fucking arm.

Former Force Recon Marine I believe.

I love that they just NO FUCKS GIVEN and went in anyway. What I don't like is the slimy media opportunity for any Congressmen to be making it look like they're some kind of good guy. Fuck em all.

I stand by my statement about the shitty Congressmen:

As many have pointed out on Twitter, Rep. King is one politician who has publicly said the shutdown is better than implementing the Affordable Care Act. The National Republican Congressional Committee has also started "a petition to support our veterans storming the WW2 memorial despite the Democrats' shutdown.
