FEELER: .NET Range Day - June 15, 2007, 03:52 PM

Just wanna gauge the interest for a range day for next Sat June 23rd or Sun June 24th ...?? (EDIT: scratch the 23rd, conflicting dates with the .COM picnic)

Range: Blue Ridge in Chantilly or NRA in Fairfax or any other suggestions...

Bring your toys, if you dont got any...bring lots of ammo of whichever caliber toys you wanna shoot.

last year's .NET/.COM range day...

hmmmm.......Missed last years. Bikes are fudged, so this just might work out.

Although I don't see a reason to bring a 308. However, I have like 300+ rounds that need to be shot (little close for me, but why the fudge not).

Never been to the NRA, but I want too. Blue Ridge works too.

You won't be able to fire the .308 at Blue Ridge, you can fire up to .460 magnum at the NRA but they watch you like hawks (as they have to, an accident at teh NRA range would be a huge news story). I personally don't like going with a large group there becuase of that. Was there a few years back for a .com range day and they kicked us all out. Long story short there were a few minor infractions then they said someone muzzled the whole range (which he didn't, several of us saw this) and kicked us out.

IN! Im good until about 3pm on the 23rd and wide open on the 24th.

Nate if you have been to one indoor shooting range in this area you have been to them all. NRA's ranges arent that much different than Blue Ridge. They have electronically controlled target tracks, thats about it.

Some dickhead RO kicked me out of Blue Ridge one time for shooting my Saiga. Its a 7.62x39 and he said the range doesnt accommodate that large a caliber. I asked him if he was serious and he said, "pack it up". I put it away and he said, "No. Off my range." Asshole made me put it in my truck!!!!

I would ask the NRA range when i went the .500 magnum wasn't out yet but i don't see why they wouldn't allow you to shoot it as the .460 magnum rifle cartridge is much more powerful than that.

As for blue ridge they support up to .50 AE (not sure baout .500 magnum), shotguns (i think you need permission), and rifle with frangible ammo only (you have to buy it there and it's not cheap).

I'd absolutely love to, but Saturdays are bad because of work, and I'll be working that Sunday too, unfortunately... Any Wednesday night (after this one) around 7:30 would work for me though

VIR has the ASRA weekend June 23rd - 24th but depending on the date I have a bunch of 7.62 ammo and .40 S&W I wouldn't mind using up.

Blue Ridge's rifle side has been up and running for some time now. I've shot .223 there and I'm fairly certain you should be able to shoot .308 or 7.62x39.

I'll try to make it but I think it'd have to be later in the afternoon.

Lt. Colonel Grossman - writes in his introduction to The Bulletproof Mind:

One Vietnam veteran, an old retired colonel, once said this to me: "Most of the people in our society are sheep. They are kind, gentle, productive creatures who can only hurt one another by accident."....

"Then there are the wolves," the old war veteran said, "and the wolves feed on the sheep without mercy." Do you believe there are wolves out there who will feed on the flock without mercy? You better believe it. There are evil men in this world and they are capable of evil deeds. The moment you forget that or pretend it is not so, you become a sheep. There is no safety in denial.

"Then there are sheepdogs," he went on, "and I'm a sheepdog. I live to protect the flock and confront the wolf."
