finally got the job ive been waiting for - June 19, 2012, 07:47 PM

so i have some automotive experience, been doing side work for the past year. worked at a dealership as a lot boy, nothing came of that. one of the techs was pressuring me to go out and get a GS position, tried to at the dealership, but with no experience they didn't want to take the chance on me...not holding it against them lol.

so when i set out on my job search i went on countless interviews, nailed all of them, had a few follow ups but nothing came of it after a couple weeks, i know im impatient, got discouraged and got a temp job cutting down trees. ... so last week i landed my self a General Service position at a shop, i start first week of july, couldn't be more stoked.

one of the master techs had told me something, "if you want something bad enough you can find a way to make it happen..."
i busted ass to land this job, its not glamorous or high paying, but its in the field i want and the first rung on the ladder.

sorry, just had to share.

Good luck, hope it works for you. I stayed at Firestone for about a month before getting fed up.

I was a GS for Firestone about 20 years ago. I had a good time. Met some real characters. I miss that comradery with coworkers. All we did was cut up all day.

I'm still searching for my ideal position so I'll just throw it out now, in case anyone has any leads:
ISO job operating an elevator in a 1-story building with 6-month vacations twice a year, references available upon request.
