Finally in a truck again... - June 15, 2012, 06:30 AM

Here's my gently used truck.

Many thanks to Wildjester for assisting me with the purchase, even though I didn't buy it from his dealership. I guess not enough people are trading Ford trucks in at the Darcars Toyota dealership

This is my third F-150, and my first in the newer style. So far I think the interior of the truck in XLT trim is an improvement over the 2008-earlier models. Ford Sync is pretty nice, and with the iPhone 4s, I can use Siri over it, which is cool.

My choices in this price range were a higher mileage STX with 4wd, which I didn't end up liking much, and a higher mileage 5.4 2wd STX.

I ended up going with this one, even though it has the 4.6, because of my light towing needs, and the very low mileage.

It has 21k miles, and every scheduled maintenance so far has been done at the dealership. I added a 75k bumper to bumper as well, because I was able to get them to go just a bit over cost for the plan. 1100 bucks for the warranty down from the retail of 2500.

Although it doesn't have the power of the 5.4, the 4.6 still is plenty powerful for my needs. The insurance only increased 8 dollars every six months from my little malibu. The back seat, although only a supercab, fits Brooklyn's car seat comfortably. She had a great time last night drivin around in "Daddy's new twuck"

Very happy. Thanks again to Wildjester for assisting me with the process.

Here's teh picz

Nice! I've never been a huge fan of Fords but I always hear great things about their trucks.

I'm not a huge fan of anything they offer.

Except the F-series pickups.

It's really the one thing that Ford has CONSISTENTLY done right. I've been tremendously happy with the F150s I have owned.

I forgot to mention, I didn't realize this until after I bought it, but there are these little hydraulic retractable steps on the front of the bed. You kick em and they swing out.

VERY handy feature.

I had some issues with my f150. Maybe they've been straightened out by now. Just how different are these from the 1978 model? Seriously, looks like a nice one.

Ecoboost wasn't available until 2011. I would love one, but I wanted to keep the costs down. I'm firmly in the "make sure you don't get such high payments that you can't make em if you suddenly are underemployed" camp.

This truck was so reasonably priced, that the payment on it is only slightly more than my malibu was.
