All fancy math aside, it seems like a simple test to fill a ball to 12.5 PSI indoors and then put it in a refrigerator for 2 hours and measure again.

I just want someone to explain why this ONLY happened to the Patriots. I am biased though. I HATE boston sports teams.

I could care less about a scientific explanation.

There's no Phd awarded for common sense.

There's no rational atmospheric condition that, at sea level, could make a 11 out of 24 sealed vessels lose 2lbs of pressure and all 11 happened to be with one party.

Not without some form of manipulation. Whether that be dunking the balls in liquid nitrogen or using an uncalibrated air pump.

The worst part is that the NFL / refs were informed prior to the Colts game that the Pats game balls in another game (I think Denver) didn't feel up to snuff. I know "feel" is a subjective term but these are professionals. Their hands are fine tools. And after how many thousands of snaps, shags, and tosses - they know when something feels off with a critical instrument.

Give a golfer identical looking 7-irons and tell them to take a swing. In three swings or less they'll identify which is the forged muscle back vs. the cast hollow cavity all based on feel.

Belicheats whole "I don't know nuffin' about balls or pre-game selection rules" was like watching someone swan dive into the abyss of absurdity.

20 some odd years as an NFL coach and 30 in the league and suddenly a man known for his functional OCD, attention to preparation and detail has a sudden case of the "I'm stupid when it comes to this."

C'mon man. Take a seat. If Goodell had some stones he would disqualified Belicheater and grinning idiot lap boy of a QB for the first half of the SB.

Funny how fast on the trigger Goodell is when its time to suspend players for off-field conduct, but when it's on-field conduct - well, hey, let's not rush here....

.

You are assuming that all 24 balls have the same pressure. Not so. You can assume that 12 have one pressure rating and the 12 others another. Both teams supply the balls used by their offence. The NFL supplies Kballs. Even then, ball boys manipulate them to their snapper and kicker's liking. Most tend to prefer a slick ball. (much like Stillie)

Ever pitch in baseball? I did. Applying a substance to the ball is illegal. Rubbing it down or wiping it on your pants leg mutliple times..not. Its personal preference.

Does add or removing a pound allow you to throw the ball 20 yards further? No. Much like a baseball, it's personal preference.

You golf analogy is not a good one in this case. You are trying to compare clubs with different construction to identical balls with different pressure. Not the same. Not even close

A Superbowl winning qb was given multiple balls with 2lb difference in pressure and was unable to tell the difference. The professional ref crew handled all balls multiple times and was unable to tell the difference. Yet all of us monday morning qb's know it made the difference in the game....really?

I'm no pats fan, but trying to gain an edge by amassing incremental small advantages is professional, not cheating.

Also why is this the only sport in which the league does not furnish the balls? Easy fix right there.

Either way a douchebag team wins the SB this year. No f's given.

The more important question than whether the balls were deflated or not is:

Who the fuck cares?

Truth to all the above. Goes for any sport. It's like when the NBA changed up their game balls a few years ago. It only was used for a few months until the players got pissed off enough and the league even saw that scores around the league were down so they went back to the old ones. A small change in pressure, texture, material makes a huge difference and they all know it. They definitely did it on purpose, no question about it.

Leather ball will return on Jan. 1 - NBA - ESPN

Just for light reading and corroboration

Totally don't care about the outcome of it because I probably won't even watch the superbowl this year, but I would love to see where that information came from. I played basketball in HS and a little in College and I promise you I could tell a difference of 2 psi in a basketball and could probably tell in football also.
