Forum Viewing App (iPhone) - February 25, 2010, 01:13 PM

I am in the process of making a vBulletin forum viewing app for the iPhone. Eventually, it will support phpBB, and other phones such as the Droid and BB.

What features would you like to see in an app like this?

Serious posts only please, riffraff will be nuked.

Obviously the ability to post andake new threads. I don't know if it's possible but to also have a shoutbox page.

My 2 cents

it seems like everything besides the shout box works over the browser anyways. what would be the advantage? a more streamlined view of the boards?

Would it be an app somewhat like the facebook on iPhones? A shoutbox app would be awesome and the ability to view top threads and posts

Viewing pictures images in the messages, as well as being able to post images in responses would be helpful. Also, the ability to quote someone when responding. In addition, being able to use navigation buttons like "New Posts" would be nice.

The advantage is that you would get to the core functionality of the site, as opposed to all of the other stuff that looks crammed in a mobile browser. It will make it easier to use on the phone. If I look at dcsb.net on my phone right now, I have to constantly zoom in and out to get at the buttons, etc.

There's already one for the Blackberry.
The site admin has to make sure they have the support plug-in activated though.

UPDATE: Not telling you this to discourage you. Just letting you know what's out there and where your app can improve or deliver more.

“Any man who tries to be good all the time is bound to come to ruin among the great number who are not good. Hence a Prince who wants to keep his authority must learn how not to be good, and use that knowledge, or refrain from using it, as necessity requires”.

Even the shoutbox seems to work over safari.

A streamlines ability to pull up new posts would be nice. Much like the new post button on the actual forum. Quick access to the shoutbox and the ability to scroll back posts. A quick way to upload pictures saved in the phone's memory.

Can you have it so that we can get an alert when a subscribed thread gets posted to or when we get a pm? also, a chat feature would be cool
