I'm planning on using the applied theory of hurricane based leaf dispersion myself.

If mother nature as much as sneezes, I'm guaranteed a 24 minimum power outage in my area. I'm thinking this one is going to be closer to the 4-5 day mark. The fact that they can't get their bucket trucks up in winds above 25mph, combined with the long loiter time this thing is set to have, should assure that. Water soaked, leaf laden trees, multiple weather systems set to bring a confluence of effects, etc, might turn this into a real bear of a storm.

I anticipate getting called up again to help power crews. Hopefully not.

As for us, we have food, water, candles, flashlights, exc stockpiled. My wife makes sure we always have a supply in the basement

Well being this is fall, and leaves are falling, I'm thinking it might not be as bad as the derecho. Esp sinced it "cleaned" all the trees a couple months ago.

As soon as we get high winds the leaves will fall/be blown off the trees. So forces on the trees may be about halved.

Not saying power will not go out and shit won't hit the fan, but w/o leaves, it won't be as bad as if the trees had leaves, like in mid-summer.

YMMV

for some reason Ashburn Farms has lost power a few times this year. This is the only year it has happened. I think the Farms has a few of the old above ground lines going to it

As long as I have to bag less leaves, I'll be good. Haha

Am I the only person who doesn't give a fook about this weak arse storm? On a side note,I've had this song stuck in my head all week....

ALL MY HEROES ARE RUSSIAN...GO CAPS!

Well you see, Norm, itís like thisÖA herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members. In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Now, as we know, excessive intake of alcohol kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. And that, Norm, is why you always feel smarter after a few beers.-Cliff Claven
