Gas Prices!! - May 30, 2008, 01:29 PM

Ok, for those who do not know.. I drive from Ashburn to Laurel MD everyday to work (50 miles one way). I did not want to move to Maryland, but these gas prices are leaving me no choice. So here is the question...

Does anyone know a good moving company.. wait let me put it this way.. does anyone know a "cheap" moving company? I am moving the end of June and I need to start getting some quotes.

Thanks

Seriously, will moving to MD really help you out financially? Do the math, cost/payoff analysis. I understand many factors play a major role in this but, it can be done. Mainly are you happy in your current residence?

As far as the cost, I am doing an Apartment Transfer (gotta love Archstone) So there is no up front apartment fees. I will be living 6 miles from work and I am no longer paying the tolls. I like where I live, but the 2 hour commute it takes sometimes to get home is really stressful.

I feel your pain. I drive to the Vienna metro and then take the train into DC. I drive from Culpeper. I think its roughly about 106 miles round trip. Then I get to pay to spend time with my fellow Metro riders. It keeps life interesting. Consider this though. Do you like were you live now? You know the area where you be moving since it is near your job. Do you think you will like that area? Just throwing things out there to consider. I am thinking about moving closer in myself. I am pondering these same questions. Good luck either way.

I'd do it. I find people who live in mD dont like moving to va, and vice a versa. But im sure it beats commuting ~100miles a day and spendig up to 4hours in a car.

I believe i can see the future;
because everyday i repeat the
same routine.

I changed jobs several months ago and cut my commute from 60-90 minutes each way down to 15-20min. It's made a huge difference for me - I didn't realize how stressful the commute was until I didn't have to do it anymore!

I left a job making twice what I make now and the commute went from 30 - 45 minutes down to whatever the 2.5 miles takes me (10 minutes?). Is honestly about an even trade off. I'm saving, not only, on gas but also on oil changes!

I was thinking about that also, my truck is 2 years old and has 78000 miles on it.
