Getting into comics... - October 27, 2011, 08:09 PM

What are some pointers you guys can give? Writers etc.

I figured it would be a great way to kill time. I've been wanting to get into it for a while now, but I think since there are so many of them, it always seemed too overwhelming to start. Hopefully you guys can help starting me out.

I'll also be looking into the New 52.

Story lines of course, but I like gore too. So overall good?

I'll be buying digital versions. I'll check to see if they have the novel version. Thanks!

I used to be a huge Top Cow/Image fan.. I started collecting Fathom when it first came out.. but I'm a graphic designer and I collected mainly for the art, and not neccessarily for the writing. Big on the art of J Scott Cambell, Tony Daniels, and Jim Lee. Collected Fathom, Whitchblade, The Darkness, Rising Stars, The Tenth, Danger Girl, F5, Crimson, Battle Chasers...

I had to stop, liquidated my collection and kept only the essentials. I only have 2 long boxes left.

Yup, same here. Few really old spidermans, F4, xmen, GR, etc. I don't think they'll be worth anything significant in our lifetime.

I'm also huge fan of J Scott Campbell, mainly Danger Girl series. Like you said, I have 2 long boxes of Fathom series and some are Aspen specials (sketchbook, seasons, swimsuits and showcase) as well. I also have about 20s signed by Michael Turner.
