Unhappy Godspeed Scott Kalitta - June 22, 2008, 07:10 PM

Scott Kalitta passed during a qualifying run at a sanctioned NHRA event yesterday, 6/21/2008. His car burst into flames just as he crossed the line.

Thoughts and condolences are with his family and friends in this tough time.

Godspeed Scott.

I have been drag racing for years. I have had to deal with the loss of a fellow racer on a few different occasions. While I only meet Scott on a couple occasions and didnt know him by any means. The loss of a racer makes us all step back and re think what we choose to do for a living. Dieing is something we know can happen every time we strap into a car.

This might sound bad to some of you that read this. However I will say it anyway

Scott Kalitta You luck bastard! To die doing what you truly love to do is nothing more than a blessing from god. You will be missed!!

Doesn't sound bad to me. We all make that decision everytime we get on our bikes.
He got to do it to the extreme in a car, get paid, and have a great life doing it. Lucky if you ask me!
