You should really just take a block of lessons, then hit the driving range and work on what you are taught there.

There are some great DVD/Videos out there. Try "The truth about golf" for a mathematical explanation of golf.

remember that if you're shooting par, half your shots are putts. learn to love your putter. Drive for show but putt for dough

One more thing I forgot to mention is lower your expectations and you will have fun playing golf. If you play with people that shoot below 100 and expect to hang with them, you will be bummed out. If you expect to have 1 or 2 good holes per round, you will have a blast.
