Google ISP Speed Test Result - Comcast/FIOS Gonna Have Headaches - February 27, 2010, 01:22 PM

This is on the network trial they're offering in select beta test areas. They don't even have a commercial speed package.

Holy shiiiiiiiiiiiii ....

Verizon - Comcast - Clearwire are going to have to step it way up ow.

Man the US has some of the slowest average speeds for both landline and wireless.

It's ridiculous how much out network gets throttled down or if not choked down, then not even capable of handling.

Holy shit they plan on hitting 1gb per second damn most hard drives people are using still can only read data at about 40mb- 90mb per second burst you could boot your system off of a remote server in nearly a tenth of the time..... DAMN

More push for cloud computing is what I foresee.

Cell phones and cell networks yes, but in terms of in home speeds... yeah.

Sure, Korea might have an average speed of 25mb/s down, but that's in a PC Bang, not in the average person's house...

When I went to Japan back in 04, I was able to STREAM and DOWNLOAD both T/V and buy 30 minute segments of 1st run movies currently in theaters to my cell phone!

That's how fast their networks were 6 years ago!

I don't think this is a fair climate of the average speeds. The US has significantly higher percentage of the population with high speed internet going into their homes than most European or Asian countries.

Cell networks however... My cell network in Japan in 2004... Docomo... would destroy any network in the US today.
