Government Rejects $700 Billion Economic Plan - September 29, 2008, 01:49 PM

REPENT, THE END IS NEAR!

What do you all think about this situation? Who should pick up the tab? What should be some of the consequences for the companies and people who got us here? What should be done to turn us away from the Recession Highway we have been on for almost two years and steer us far from the "D" word that so many economists are muttering now?

Please keep the thread informative or humerous. No personal attacks against political figures unless you can back up an arguement or statement with a source.

I'm going to my cabin in the woods this weekend to make sure everything is ready.......

I like how everybody is saying that we are headed for a recession. Sorry folks we are already here. Im glad that it got turned down. Why should the rest of us have to pay for other peoples mistakes? Some people bought homes when they could not afford them so I m suppose to pay for their down fall. I dont think so. Its time big business started being held accountable for there own mistakes.

I emailed my Congressmen asking them to vote no. It's a flawed plan. If you think the end is near, then the President and Pelosi succeeded with their brain washing tactics.

My wife and I bought a condo in Lake Ridge in the mid 80's. Price was $50k but interest on a conv 30 year loan was 13% with 7 points. That was considered a good deal. People were crying the end was near.

The nation recovered.

absolutely man. anyone involved in spending or saving money in this country that says otherwise has been living under a rock for the last 18-24 months or so.

I totally agree, but unfortunately big business never really pays for anything. It tends to trickle down for consumers to pick up the tab. I just wonder how much will trickle down to the middle class, average American.

on a nicer note. If you don't have any money in the stock market now would be a stupendous time to buy.

The sad thing is we are trying to fix what should never have been allowed.
Certain leaders have been shouting for oversight for years and no one listened.
In every job I have ever had if I made a wrong decision I paid for it one way or the other. Direct funds removed from my check, marks on my record for future reviews and no pay raise etc.
Then when it finally hits the fan, the people who should have done something years ago want to make others responsible for fixing it (US).
This administration has been throwing our money anywhere it wants long enough. I am tired of helping a country that has $79Billion surplus while we continue to pay the bill and our banks are taking loans from China! (Well, they won't even give us loans now)!

STOP THE BLEEDING!

Housing market flooded with new houses no one can buy, all these current loans being put into bankruptcy. What will happen to the value of our homes then?

I agree that Govt. shouldn't bail out those who are living beyond their means, however not supporting our economy in recession period (I don't care what they say, we've been in recession for last 3 quarters) is plain economical mismanagement. I know we need some one to take responsibilty for this mess however without somesort of government help, we might slide from recession to a full blown depression.

Just my $.02

$700 billion could do a lot of good for those who have been ignored.

I work for Congress doing websites and www.house.gov has basically crashed or is very slow due to the huge increase of site traffic because of this crap. 2 weeks ago we were averaging around 80,000 hits on all House sites. Last thursday we peaked at 240,000 hits. It's breaking our servers.

Bad news for the economy. You guys are talking about buying Lexus' and i'm thinking about hording my money and hiding it in my backyard.

My money is tied up in POS motorcycles. What could possibly go wrong with that investment plan.
