Graduating MMI this afternoon! - November 21, 2007, 09:22 AM

I figured I'd tell y'all since you might know what I'm talking about....
most of my friends dont know what MMI (Motorcycle Mechanics Inst.) is or what I've been doing in Orlando for the last year and a half+

Anyways I just finished up the the Suzuki Factory Authorized Training (earned the Select Tech award). Along with MMI's basic 33 week "Mechanic Training Program", 24 week HonTech and HonTech advanced Honda courses I took and I am outta here!

I've really learned alot here. I knew a fair amount before about motorcycles and could turn a wrench pretty decent, but I think MMI has given me alot of skills that I needed to go from a competent shadetree mechanic to a motorcycle technician. I wont claim to be an expert but I am ready to enter the feild as a soild entry level tech. Now I need that, on the job experiance and training that no school can teach me.

I'm going to miss Orlando, I've also really learned to hate it! Had some perks. Daytona was an hr away. Cocoa beach was 45 mins. The weather here is amazing! I also meet a whole bunch of really cool guys, and going to school every morning at 6:30 was actually fun cause I loved what I was learning about.

I'm graduating at 1, then jumping on the autotrain with my car at 4 and should be back in NoVa tomorrow morning.

I have a day to get used to what real winter weather is like again. Party and see old friends. Then armed with my resume, certifications and transcripts time for the job search to continue!

Cause as most of y'all know student loans suck!

you should hook up with Von Dari, sounds like you two could run a wrench shop that would make some $$. This area really needs good reputable bike wrenchers.

yeah I talked to him... I'd love to work something out. We'll see when I get back.

I loved both Suzuki and Honda, but I want to be a Ducati tech. I have a ways to go before that dream is realized.

Congratulations one of my boys moved to Phoenix and graduated from MMI last year. He interned with Team Jordan this last summer for a few Motorcross races and absolutely loves his career!

Just watch out for a few employers, he has a horror story were a custom motorcycle shop in the VA. Beach area flew him in for an interview and didn't have a reservation for him at a hotel as they promised so he had to sleep on some kid's bed at the owners house. Sketchy as hell!
