Grassroots effort to get The Dawghouse back on WJFK! - August 16, 2009, 02:10 PM

Howdy all,

I am pretty much a lurker here but related to a couple of 'regs' so I figured I'd post this here since it affects almost all of the riders/sport bike enthusiasts here in the DC area...

Dawghouse Radio used to 'live' on 106.7 WJFK before the dreaded change over to 'the fan'. The Dawghouse guys were on Saturday mornings and talked about everything from Harleys to street bikes and included a lot of racing news/interviews along with tech/tweeking tips.

After the change over, it seems the Dawghouse guys tried to change their format to be EXCLUSIVELY about sports bike racing since technically that's a sport (right?!?!) but WJFK management decided that it was too 'niche' and wasn't really a important enough genre of the sporting community. The Pack is going to be sent down to the minors, a piddly AM station, to die a slow, painful death unless the sports bike riding community steps up and puts a little support behind these guys.

Here's where they could use our help. I am asking that anyone who wants to see sport bike riding/racing represented on an 'all sports radio network' to send an email to CK, the Program Director at WJFK telling them that there is a HUGE sportsbike listener community in the DC area that **WANTS** to hear about everything sportbike!!

CK's email is cnkinard@cbs.com

thanks in advance!!

Will (castle's brother)

When they fail and come begging The Junks, Mike O' and everyone else to come back I'm sure Dawghouse will be asked to come back to.

But it really is too niche of a market for simply sport(s) bike talk.

Seems like neat enough program in it's full format. I mean, hell, those CarTalk idiot brother have been around forever talking about sqeaky seatbelts.

Perhaps they should try another station.

Right up the 1 hole.

To be honest, I'd probably tune in a lot more if it were on some "piddly" AM station.. 8 AM on a saturday?? Atleast on an AM station you can probably negotiate for a better time slot, and maybe even be Live!! Make a positive out of everything

Just to add and not to shit in anyone's cereal, but a grassroots effort really won't do dick. They chose to get rid of Big O' and Dukes and think about the grassroot effort behind THAT show!

Think broader.. focus your efforts on recording a show solely for iTunes (podcasts). Wider audience, plug whatever you want, and work your way up the most downloaded podcast list. THATs how you'll get your "niche" market recognized..

Just my two.. really did love the show when it was on
