It was great riding with you. - October 20, 2006, 09:55 AM

I've ridden sport bikes for more than fifteen years. But the most recent years have been the best. For about five years I have ridden a lot of miles with quite a few of you on this board and also dot com, but this Saturday will be my final ride. I'm totally giving it up and most likely it will be forever. The reasons are deep and too lengthy to explain, but they are absolute.

I remember my first group ride from this board with a guy named Chico. Later I found out that EVERYBODY knows Chico. He made me feel right at home with everyone and took the time to introduce me around. Soon I met Katie, Alex, Mike and Louise, Jonathan, Tony, another Tony, etc. etc. All great people and all taught me something new. Some I rode with more than others, but only based on luck of the day.

I've seen riders come and go, some tragically and others that just faded away to other corners of the globe. I've watched arguments and breakups, new friendships, anger, and overwhelming acts of kindness. I've seen over a hundred bikers line up and ride peacefully to pay their final respects to someone that many had never met.

Outside of family, there has never been anything that I've embraced that can provide me with such a clearing of the mind. Whether carving turns or kicking up freshly fallen Autumn leaves, the feeling was always there. Despite the fevered rush of adrenaline, there was always that ever present calm and peacefulness to soothe me. Yes, even when following an individual with a name ripped from comic book fame at a breakneck pace, I could still feel calm.

Thank you all and know that I will miss this.

If it wasn't for this community I wouldn't have ever met up with you again buddy so I'm quite to see you hanging up the riding, but knowing you, you didn't come to this decision lightly. It's disappointing that I never got to ride with you, but don't think that I'm not gonna stop by your house on occasion just to bug you.

Very eloquently put. I wish I'd had a chance to ride with you. However feel free to send me random pictures of things as you see fit.

Always been great riding with you Travis. Everything we've talked about at the spot or before rides. We've all learned from each other, we've all taught each other something new about the sport of riding on 2 wheels. Feel free to come out next year to the race track and hang out with the usual crowd. I'll be seeing you this Saturday. Trying to get my camcorder ready. The crowd we've always ridden with has also respected one another and never had anything to prove to anyone. We've all ridden withing our limits.

Back in the days on Rt33 prob. one the 1st ride where I got to meet you.
You

A lot of people might say it takes courage to ride a motorcycle. I think it takes courage and strength to stop once you've started. You're a stronger man than I, Madali.

Oh, and also feel free to send pics ANY time.

I think I'm going to concentrate on picking up my son more.

Thanks everybody and I will still show up at The Spot and block traffic on memorial rides in my truck.
