ground control mma baltimore, anyone know about it? - July 11, 2011, 06:04 PM

been looking into doing mma and the like.
found this place, ground control baltimore. they have a few locations close to me.
i called about membership rates, 125/monthly for unlimited. dont get me wrong i like low cost, but usually when somehting is this competive it tends to raise a red flag in my book.

when i was in SoCal memberships were upwards of 250-300/monthly for a reputable mma training place.

anyway, anybody hear about these guys?
are they legit?
whats the word people!

i googled but only found a few reviews from years ago...

if its reputable, then ima join with a friend.

They are legit. The dude who runs the gym (can't remember his name) is the guy who got MMA legalized in MD. The gym has all sorts of specialties taught in it as well, not just MMA. My neighbor is a trainer there, he was telling me about some of the members and other trainers, lots of the members are police officers and fire fighters. He's been doing jiu jitsu for most of his life (black belt), and it seems the other trainers have similar experience in their respective specialty. He also said that they are very accomodating to ppl's schedules. Oh and that they "squash" ppl's egos when they come through the door, so be humble and you won't have any issues.

Good luck!

Pedro Sauer's school in Sterling is like $150/month for unlimited.. and he's one of the highest ranked Gracie Jujitsu instructors *on earth* who actively teaches/has his own school.

So $250-300 is just ridiculous.. $125/a month is a good price.

*sigh*

i miss competition so i feel this would be a good sport to get into that is organized.

It's a good school. The guys I train with now all trained there. Apparently there is some BS political stuff at the upper ranks. But that's true of most large schools.

$125 is about in line with other schools in the area.

So in a nutshell. Yes it's a good school. Try it out and see if you like it.

Then again... That's just me.

On the internet... Everyone is an expert.

And now...The dancing Banana:

Did you say tape?

But seriously, Go for it. I'm sure some of the coaches there can give you a once over on your leg to make sure it'll be fine.
