Guy In Foreclosure Bulldozes House As A "F You" To The Bank - February 18, 2010, 08:28 PM

LMAO! The bank really thought they were gonna come up on this one and snatch a deal.
Make money off what he already paid in interest and make money on the appreciated value of the property at the auction.

FAIL! I can see a lot more of this happening.

Quote:
A man in Ohio grew so angry at his bank for refusing to work with him to keep his home that he bulldozed it. He told WLWT News, "As far as what the bank is going to get, I plan on giving them back what was on this hill exactly (as) it was. I brought it out of the ground and I plan on putting it back in the ground."

Terry Hoskins owed $160,000 on a mortage on the home, which was valued at $350,000. Hoskins says the IRS placed liens on his business property and home after his brother, a former business partner, sued him. He says the bank then claimed his home as collateral and refused to accept a $170,000 buyout offer on the mortgage, telling him they could get more from it at auction. "When I see I owe $160,000 on a home valued at $350,000, and someone decides they want to take it – no, I wasn't going to stand for that, so I took it down," Hoskins said.

He says he might bulldoze the commercial property next.

Depends. He still owes the money. The land itself still has value as well.

For what? Dismantling his own property? Until the court legally transfers ownership back to the bank, he's free to do what he wants with it.

Including taking the bitch down the foundation

Quiet is kept, my friend who is a RE agent says a lot of those overinflated 3 and 4 year old McMansions, when they're foreclosed on and he gets the bank owned listing - he goes in to tell the bank the owner basically STRIPPED THE HOUSE and left them with nothing but a shell.

Bathroom and kitchen fixtures, light fixtures, marble tiles, granite counters, cabinets, water heaters, HVAC / Heat Pump, carpet ... all that stuff is GONE! Sometimes even the copper piping is stripped out!

He claims bankruptcy and the banks can't do squat to recover. Done.

The best they can do is sell the scrap wood and try to get the value for the land, less any unpaid property taxes.

Bank should have just worked with the dude.

IE The Killdozer

Marvin John Heemeyer (October 28, 1951 – June 4, 2004) was a welder and an automobile muffler repair shop owner. Angered over the outcome of a zoning dispute, he armored a Komatsu D355A bulldozer with layers of steel and concrete and used it on June 4, 2004, to demolish the town hall, a former judge's home, and other buildings in Granby, Colorado. The rampage ended when the bulldozer became immobilized. After a standoff with law enforcement agencies, Heemeyer committed suicide by gunshot.
Heemeyer had been feuding with Granby officials, particularly over fines for violating city ordinances and a zoning dispute regarding a concrete factory constructed opposite to his muffler shop that he believed caused his business to fail.

I remember watching the emergency reports during class when I lived near Denver/ Boulder. Crazy shit goes on in Colorado.

^^^Awesome! Sorry to hear he off'd himself, but the concept of saying, "Fuck it - the government wants to fuck me? Ok, it's time to knock over some shit" is great.
