Hey I went down Elden to the Parkway to 50 to 66 into Rosslyn

Weighing in the fact that the toll road is faster but will cost me $2 a day what is the best way into DC?

Depends when you leave... I had good luck leaving early and using 7 through Tysons to 50 and going in via Clarendon

When I worked in DC I took 267 to 495 (baltimore) and got off on GW Parkway. From there it was a straight shot to DC... was a quick commute at 5am.

I've noticed that GW Parkway runs very smooth, even during rush hour.

congrats, Ben, and welcome to the world of the commuters!
good luck.
I've discovered its worth paying $2 for no headache. But that's the toll road vs. 66.

Suck it up and pay the toll... there is NO better way to get to DC from Herndon. The toll is worth every penny considering you can usually go twice as fast there as you can on most other roads people have mentioned, there are no traffic lights (just two toll plazas - get a Speed Pass) and cops are easy to spot on there.

The greatest mistake you can make in life is to be continually fearing you will make one.

how much is your time worth every day? You can make more money but you can never get back time spent. Personally, I'd pay the 2 bucks.

Your sig is the shit homeslice!!!

Shawn's right though - worth every penny.

You could also shave your legs, wear a tight skirt and hitch in everyday. Just another economic solution. But what you would spend in bandaids, razors, shaving cream, skirts and thongs makes the 2 bucks a day both more economical and practical. Good luck with that.

I lived in springfield before so I just buzzzed up the HOV. Been commuting for a very long time now though...

Gonna buy the speedpass, fast, easy to see cops, and my time is worth more than the 2 bucks. Thanks for the help!

Smarttag/EZPass is a gift from God...

Saved me an hour and a half in Baltimore one day at the tolls there. I'd go with the toll road and get a smart tag.

I used to take the bus from the Monroe station to the Metro into DC.

But I guess if you want to drive, I'd take the toll road...

Toll Road. I ride it every morning from Herndon to Tysons. On the bike it's a 15 min trip door to door at 8 in the morning.

God Speed Jeff! You'll never be forgotten.

BOOSTZX3 : in all seriousness head injuries ain't no joke. I've had around 10 concussions and now I ride a Buell Don't let it happen to you!
