Hey ...... That just happened!!!!! - April 28, 2009, 02:13 PM

Ok .... some of you were in the shout box when I announced my retarded moment for the day. Glad you all enjoyed it. Then I got to thinking .... I know I'm not the only one. So lets hear it people ... what jackass moments have you had while working on stuff?? Cars, bikes, your house, your friends house ... whatever.

I'll start ......

(From Today) Doing an oil change on an 06' Jeep Liberty. Got in a little bit of a rush and forgot the oil filter. Started the car and BAM .... oil every where. Then when I go to clean it all up I realize why the mess was much bigger then I thought it would since the car was only running for about 2 sec. at most. The oil filter is angled just right so it was pointing straight at the radiator fan. With no oil filter it spread the mess nicely for me!!!

A week ago or so ..... another oil change .... got sloppy. After warning a million people about this problem I finally made the mistake myself. Took the old oil filter off and didn't check to make sure the gasket came with it. Put the new filter on reating a double gasket, filled it with oil and completed the oil change. Pulled the car out of the bay and parked it across the parking lot ..... then I followed my fuck up trail all the way back to my bay and started cleaning!!!

God Speed Jeff! You'll never be forgotten.

You know, posting up how you don't know you're doing may NOT be the best thing to do. I think THAT is the jackass move of the day....just my opinion.

I finished an oil change the other day... got everything torqued and filled... I was rolling the bike off the lift, hear something and didn't think much of it until I realized that I had forgotten to move the oil pan out of the way...
Cracked the plastic pan...

20 mins scrubbing a customers front tire and another 30 spent cleaning 3.5 qts of used oil from on top of and underneath my lift...

I was sooo pissed off but there was no one but myself to blame.

No harm done but still wasted an hour when i could have been doing something FAR more productive than cleaning!

If I get time later, I'll write up how I almost earned a Darwin while working on a car.
