High performance car people... I need help. - April 26, 2007, 04:43 PM

Anyone have hook ups on where to get a Small Block Chevrolet engine and a standard Porsche G50 transaxle in the area? I'm gonna be needing those parts very, very soon.

Just finalized and ordered me up one of these. http://www.ultimasports.co.uk/usa/gtrchassis.html

I looked at these, but once the Factory Five musallane coupe came out (I first saw it at SEMA2005), the ultima just looks...not as good

Just bid on this

LS7 one Ebay

Doubt you could keep the car straight, if that chassis is as light as I think it is you'd most likely be good to go with 250-300 HP but HP is addictive

for $90K, i'd baby it too. Small Block Chevy's are a dime a dozen. And the G-50 is in the 911 and C2's. Should be able to find them. there is a huge Porsche swap meet in Hershey, PA. this weekend!

Can i come over and play too? I used to have a Porsche 914. I wanted to put a Chevy V8 in that. It was my little street legal go kart.

There is a guy around Manassas that has one. I would put a small 4cyl turbo on it but that will probably involve a bunch more fabrication. Ford 5.0's are a dime a dozen and can be built to well over 300 NA HP reliable and 500+ on forced induction. Aluminum blocks available as well from DART.

I thought about the Ford engines, but they company had already tested and manufactured the car for the Chevy's. Why change it? I asked them about supercharging and they suggested against it for some reason. Their email stated "....blah, blah, blah....don't attempt anything beyond straight motor configurations as recommended in our literature."

I don't get that. Any ideas why they would say that?

most likely the frame wasn't designed to handle the extra HP and torque.. i'm working on a deal for a Diablo KitCar with a simular configuration.. 320hp crate chevy with a porsche 915 transaxle. Just have to finish the Eclipse first, then start ordering kit pieces. Mine isn't finalized, but have been doing research on then for over 5 years.

We can play building them if you like... did you get the kit, or the rolling chassis assembled? my garage only needs a couple more tools to be able to do the whole car. Not to mention the years of experience I have working on cars and fabricating parts... I'm thinking once it's done.. "Friday at the track" at Summit point to have some "real" fun.. or maybe VIR Full course.

I spent the extra cash for a rolling chasis. They state that pretty much a moron could build it with simple tools in about 6 months, but I don't trust myself or want to wait that long. Probably foolish, but who cares. I got the silver one just like in that picture.
