Home IP Cameras - November 2, 2015, 01:45 PM

What do you have? How do you use it (them)? What features are great, what can you live without? Any additional tips or suggestions?

I'm looking to get at least one wireless IP camera for strictly indoor use to keep in our apt. I'm not trying to break the bank on this little project either, so I've been looking at some of the
Foscam modelsFoscam models
. Some of the http://thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-wireless-ip-camera/ cameras also require cloud subscriptions to record and access footage. Personally I'd rather have the local storage option available, especially when hooking up to my QNAP, but in all honesty, recording isn't even super high on my priority list. Mostly what I'm after is a simple camera that allows me to either view live form a mobile device, or online from a desktop at work or something.

Current frontrunners are:

I have a foscam.. not sure what model but similar if not the same model you posted. Easy setup. Good quality and range. I have mine in my garage connected to my wifi. I use a baby monitor ios app to view and control remotely. I can even talk into my phone and it will project from the mic on the camera.

I have a bunch of the 9821P at my house, my friends houses, and customers. For the money, they are great.

Thanks for the responses, fairly certain I'll give the Foscam a go.

I got 5 different DLink cameras in some essential areas. One for the dog room to watch them while I'm away and another in the garage to see if I forgot to close the garage lol. The others are spread throughout the main rooms of the house. The service to watch the cameras are free and they work off sd cards and set to record on motion detection of pre programmed areas. Haven't had many issues with them since getting an Apple extreme router. They would give me grief once in awhile with other routers.
