Homicide Charges in Phoenix News Heli Crash - July 30, 2007, 09:13 AM

http://www.eastvalleytribune.com/story/94105

Phoenix is pursuing homicide charges against the guy who was running from the police at the time the helicopters collided. Apparently, if pilot error and mechanical failures are ruled out by an investigation, the guy will be charged with the four deaths.

Anyway, thought this was interesting in light of the motorcyclist who was charged with the death of a pursuing cop a while back.

Thoughts?

Its a lack of responsibility paradox

That's ridiculous. Those were TV station choppers trying to get a nice entertaining shot for their TV station. Apparently they were flying recklessly themselves.

I think that is ridiculous. They chose to pursue so they chose to take a risk to get a story. If it wasn't mechanical it has to be pilot error.

That is absolutely fucking retarded. Nobody forced them to follow his story.

The police pursuing a vehicle is a different issue entirely.

This is fucking stupid.

Right up the 1 hole.

It won't hold up. They weren't emergency response so they had no need to be there and the guy had no direct impact on them. They CHOSE to put themselves in danger.

Plus... it has to be either pilot error OR mechanical... helicopters don't just magically run into each other.

As a pilot, I'll agree w/you 100%. How assinine!
