Who here does not exceed 80 MPH on a weekly if not daily basis. If im on a bike its literally on an hourly basis.

80 mph is a reckless driving ticket, hefty fine, possible loss of liscense, and even jail. To be honest when I'm comming down the HOV almost everyone is exceeding 80.

I only do it if somebody has a stop watch at my house when I leave and somebody else has one at work when I get there. Then I post up my time.

This is more of a simple pole, I suspect that 80+% of drivers are technically "reckless" on the road, and do so on a daily basis making it habitual...

If this is true why do we have a law that is no longer applicable to the majorities lifestyle and habits?

It's too distracting to look at my speedometer while I wheelie, so I'm not sure.

80 on my bike is like a walk in the park... it does it do easily, that i really need to pay attention to keep it under 80, which i rarely do...

I often hit 80 or so on the hwy. Not too much more than that though and I usually hang around 70-75 unless I'm in a hurry.

A lot of the roads I ride...80mph would knot you up pretty quick. Although I've seen a few successfully manage it....there was a bit of lunacy involved.

Because laws don't exist to reinforce/support lifestyles and habits. Laws and government exist (in theory, as suggested by Thomas Paine in Common Sense, which I <3 very much) to protect me from you and you from me. The law in question is set at 80 because most people and vehicles on the street are dangerous at those speeds. When you throw in tailgating, radios, DVD systems, cell phones, fast food, coffee, make up application, etc, do you REALLY want people doing 80 and do you REALLY think it's safe?

(and don't take this as me looking down at from an ivory tower, just trying to provide as non-biased opinion on this as possible... i'm guilty of speeding and have the yellow slips to prove it)
