How to Find out the Cause of Death of a Montgomery County, MD Resident? - September 30, 2011, 05:18 PM

I guy I used to work & carpool with recently died at 57. Its been about 2 yrs since I last saw him. He was an OK guy, maybe a bit strange, but aren't we all a little?

He did have some previous serious health issues. But his online funeral guestbook alludes to a "tragic" death. I read that as sudden & unexpected, a number of possibilities for sure. Car accident, heart attack, suicide, and more... So I was curious what happened to the guy. He had a wife & 2 kids in high school & jr high school, solid marriage. Very unfortunate. I have tried numerous online searchs thru facebook, the internet, newspapers and no further info is gained.

Anybody know how I might find out?

give it some time, then try contacting his family. Something along these lines...

I'd like to send my condolences, sorry for your loss... was it his heart?

No, it was kidney issues that he had trouble with. I'm just not comfortable contacting his family. I really only knew him, met his wife & kids now and again when dropping him off at home.

He wasn't a close friend at all. Just a former coworker that I carpooled w/ several years ago. Just more curious than anything.

Have you tried googling his name to see if there was a reporting of it? For any of the reasons you mentioned above? Do you have any mutual friends on his Facebook page? Maybe someone a bit removed from the immediate family who you can reach to? Tell them you saw the FB page and are wondering what happend.

Yea tried all kinds of search strings w/ google, no luck. His facebook page is still up so I suppose I could try contacting one of his "friends". I was just wondering if there might have been a public database by the county coroners office, etc.

maybe ask the funeral home? ... alot of times the body wont goto coroner it will go straight to a funeral home unless its going for an autopsy but alot of families dont want an autopsy

Ugh, I need to make sure my FB profile gets deleted in the event of my death. When I'm gone I want to be gone... Not creeping people out on the interwebs for eternity

doubt the funeral home would tell you the cause of death, but might be worth a shot
